Therapy using VitalStim Plus® electrostimulation

Apply for therapy using VitalStim Plus® electrostimulation if you observe difficulties in your child:

with swallowing food;
with choking while eating and drinking;
with insufficient strength and muscle work of the facial area and larynx;
with palatopharyngeal shortness (nasal speech and possible penetration of food into the nasal cavity);
in terms of correct articulation;
in terms of muscle work as a result of facial nerve paralysis, trigeminal;
in terms of the proper functioning of the vocal folds;
resulting from complications after: surgical procedures, intubation, head and neck injuries, and injuries due to hypoxia at birth.

VitalStim Plus® is a device that provides a specialized form of neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES), the effectiveness of which has been confirmed by numerous clinical studies worldwide. Initially, the treatments were used during swallowing therapy, but today it is already known that electrostimulation using VitalStim Plus® also affects other spheres.

Thanks to specially developed technology, we can affect muscle re-education, build muscle strength, regulate muscle tension, alleviate pain, prevent/delay muscle atrophy, alleviate involuntary muscle spasms, and obtain an improvement in the metabolism of muscles in the larynx, pharynx, oral cavity and face, which are involved in speaking, swallowing, coughing or facial reactions.

What sets VitalStim apart is its ability to work within the larynx and the possibility of using biofeedback surface electromyography (sEMG) along with simultaneous neuromuscular stimulation. The electrostimulation treatment is individually tailored to the patient's needs. VitalStim Plus® therapy is certified by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

It is worth remembering that this is a complementary therapy, which should be carried out together with other systematic exercises selected according to the child's needs.
